How do I remove glue from a coat?

How to remove glue (those gluestick glue) on artwork without leaving a stain/mark ?

  • sometimes, i use gluestick to glue my works. But sometimes i accidentally got glue on parts where i don't want to have glue on. trying to scrap it off or rub it makes a sticky and ugly mark. so is there a way where i can remove the glue without leaving a mark ?

  • Answer:

Well it really depends on the surface. If it is paper products i wouldn't recommend this. but glass, metal, floors, ceramic, etc. Definitely use Goo gone or Goof Off both apply very little to a rag or paper towel and rub the glue off and then with a new paper towel that's wet wipe the surface so the chemicals don't eat the piece. If its paper your referring too that's really hard to get off with out a mark so i would recommending paint, placing another layer, adding something in that place or starting over. Ive done it when matting my photographs and i had to add another mat or start over. Good Luck!

sometimes you can use as "rubber cement remover". it's a weird-looking brick that removes rubber cement. however, i have used it to remove other types of glue as well. they are small things, like a 2x2 inches flat square and are very cheap, you have to buy them at an art store. then you carefully scrub it onto the glue and there's a chance it could lift the glue off without leaving the mark.
