Alexander McQueen did a dress with china/ceramics all over the bodice, like a smashed up teacup. There are loads of interesting dresses made from paper/newspaper which are easy to find with a google search, including a cool Rob Ryan cut-out one that looks like lace. There's also a Vogue photoshoot from a couple of years ago where they made paper and card clothes for an accessories shoot (google Vogue Paper Plates in images). There's a skirt by Hussein Chalayan that's made out of wood and that also turns into a table! As for paintings printed onto clothes there's a dress by YSL that is a Mondrian painting (the blocks of colour with black outlines), and Vivienne Westwood used traditional portraiture printed onto her clothes, like the 'Boucher' corset. There are also a lot of things around inspired by Alice in Wonderland that include stuff like teapots and watches, like these shoes which I am totaly obssessed with!! http://caughtcouture.files.wordpress.com/2010/06/nicholas-kirkwood-alice-in-wonderland-shoes.jpeg Even Primark are catching up with this kind of thing now, I bought a necklace there the other day with a birdcage on which is cool. Hope some of that helps - would have included more links but just doing it off the top of my head as I did a very similar project once before!
