Why is banksys graffiti accepted as art, whilst other street artists is considered vandalism?

I personally think that all Graffiti is art and most Graffiti IS vandalism (unless you are allowed/get permission to spray paint on the surface of what ever you choose to do your art on). There are many street artist who are recognized for the work, even though most of it is technically illegal. Banksy is just one of the most recognizable street artist, because he has done some outrageous things and art but a lot of what he did was illegal and considered vandalism ( one of the reasons why he probably keeps his identity hidden). Graffiti in general is art(how ever this is MY opinion others may disagree), in my town they have even designated a whole block where people can come and Graffiti all the art they want to (sadly nothing lasts more than a week). If there are people who consider Banksy's work art but don't consider other street artist's work to be art it might be because Banksy has had shows, sold pieces, and has won awards..........but I really hope people don't think that way...because that's a tad shallow. you should watch "exit through the gift shop", it is an interesting film.

I guess cause his is more appealing to the general public since they can understand it, and cause he's more famous than a majority of other street artists. His art is considered vandalism too, it's just people like his better...

because banksys is contracted to do the "graffiti" by the owner of the buildings and everyone elses "graffiti" is just vandelism because they were not hired to do the art on the buildings
