Describe Marilyn Monroe's Pop art piece by Andy Warhol?
-
can you please describe Marilyn Monroe's Pop art piece with details about shape, colour, etc?
-
Answer:
Andy Warhol did more then one MM portrait. He did one which has a hot pink background and is a headshot. Her hair is chrome yellow and her lips pink. Her skin is a faded pink. It is derived from a well-known 1950s photo still about the time of Gentleman Prefer Blondes. He also did a series called Golden Marilyns and a series of screen prints that starts with a clearly printed headshot and then each screenprint is a bit more faded then the one before. These ones are in black and white. Some people see it as a comment on her fading away. Andy started his Marilyns after she died. He was inspired by her suicide. Walter de Kooning also did a portrait of MM which is abstract and very different in nature.
