Best MODERN ART city in Canada (anglais ou français)?

Hi , I am into media arts. I want to know which are the best Canadian cities in this field as I will probably attempt a summer stage in Canada. I am looking forward to visit the lead cities in interactive /multimedia art , including electronic art and virtual reality. Where in Canada can I find museums like : ZKM in Karlsruhe , Germany or Ars Electronica in Linz Austria? I would eventually like making a PHD in this field , so it would be great if you can give me some advice with the city, media centres(museums) and /or universities. I know there is an Animation/ Electronic arts museum in Montreal, I am not from there I just remember visiting the museum when I was there a few years ago.
