What is Digital Design?

What is the difference in digital design, digital art?

  • The school im looking at only offers digital design and digital art. I want to go for graphic design. Are one of these the same as graphic design.. or whats the diff in the two?

  • Answer:

Digital Design is a mix of skills - traditional graphic design, interactive or web design, motion design, and video production. I almost think of like those digital animations that you see (like Toy Story) I would assume digital art to only be illustrations using digital mediums. Graphic Design is mostly print (ads, brochures, flyers, packaging).

Hallo Red

Design and art is not the same. It is about intention more than anything else. Design is made with it's function in mind, with art the function is mainly, firstly being art. Digital is the way to go in the graphic world these days so when you go study graphic design it will be digital design as well. 'Digital design' is only stating it was computer generated. 'Graphic design' is stating it is, well, graphic. It can still be many things and mediums.
