Why do you think graffiti is bad?

Graffiti itself isn't bad. I think it's given a bad reputation because of the location in which it is put.

I love When people do it. But some people do it to be *****, or just for the wrong reason like gangs, Thats why its frowned upon, But when people do it to show there talent..It's different :) I like it, just when its used for the right purpose.

Sometimes it's just cussing and vulgar pictures But for the most part I would agree with you, it adds to the character of a city and in many cases I would consider it art

Graffiti is definitely not for attention. These pieces are done for the same reason a painting is. I do think there is a difference between graffiti and graffiti art, however. For example a tag is not art. I agree with you that "offensive" graffiti can be art as well. Some graffiti artists do work on canvas such as Banksy who is a very successful artist. But to a lot of graffiti artists your suggestion is offensive. The point of graffiti is to be in a public place so it defeats the purpose to do it on canvas. And even though some graffiti artists do use canvas they do it the "traditional" way much more often. It really is the whole point. I think that society has already backed up your claims by being willing to pay millions for pieces by graffiti artists.

Graff is bad because it is destruction of property, basically. It's artistic when its good, but its still not right to do. Then there's things like scratching your name on glass or using etch acid that are 100% vandalism but still graff and therefore art if its decent. That said, I know its wrong but I don't really care. I just don't want to get caught.
