What kind of jobs can you get with a bachelors degree in Art?

  • Without going to Grad school to get a Master's degree in studio art, what kind of jobs could a person get with a bachelor's degree in art (this person also has a bachelor's degree in history). Also, if that person did get a Master's degree in Studio Art what other jobs could be available for them....and.... Is it possible to be an artist/painter and support yourself? Can you make a living from doing that kind of work?

    A friend of mine has a degree just like this. She is a photo archivist for Washington state. She loves her job and apparently makes pretty good money. Upper class art galleries and museums would be another possibility.

There are all sorts of jobs out there. It all depends on what you want to do. You could be a curator at a museum, art director for a small animation company, or start up your own gallery for others to show their work. HIT Entertainment may be hiring. Check out their website. I am an artist, but not persistent enough to make money at it. Therefore, you need to constantly be working on artwork in order to make it as an artist. It may be slow at first, but if you get the exposure you need you may see your art career take off well. Good luck.

You could be a historical art teacher/professor since you have a degree in both fields. And, you can be a painter or an artist and support yourself but let's just say that most likely you are going to be dirt poor. I suggest teaching while you paint in your spare time.

You can work at a restaurant. ...but really, if you're good and professional, you can support yourself as an artist.
