Are Organic architecture and High-Tech architecture opposite?

Interior architecture to architecture...?

  • I'm at Columbia College in Chicago studying interior architecture but I'm thinking of applying to UIC's School of Architecture (SoA). Since interior architecture is different from general architecture, I was wondering if I would have to retake some if not many classes and if my interior architecture courses will be void as a result of my transfer. i have already e-mailed some advisors about the matter but I was hoping that i can get an answer from someone who has been in the same situation as me.

You can probably access UIC's catalog online - how far along are you? Most colleges accept most or all of each other's General Education requirements. By looking at the online catalog, you will be able to see what their minimum requirements are for each major. My daughter works for Kaplan University downtown Chicago in the Prior Learning Assessment Center and does this all day long - each transfer student is evaluated case-by-case and she says you'd be surprised how much credit is transferable between institutions. Some Minimum Gen Ed requirements are met by certification from even non-degree institutions. I graduated from Northeastern Ill University in December 2010 with a Bachelor degree in Education, but when I began again (25 years after I started, met my husband, blah blah), I had almost completed all my Gen Ed requirements, but because they were 25 years old, out of about 30 credit hours, I only retained three!! The courses were outdated (101 Chemistry of the Universe - yikes) and I had to start from scratch. My aim was Accounting, and that major is awarded through their College of Business and Admin, with different requirements for acceptance than the College of Education and the College of Arts & Sciences. I completed every course except for ONE - Finite Math (aka Math for Scary People) - I took it three times and could not make that 'C' - I was devastated! I knew I couldn't take it a fourth time without being in class in a straitjacket Then I realized I could stay within a 'business' future by switching majors to Human Resources Training & Development in the College of Education. When I met with the Coll of Ed advisor, I was relieved to discover that most courses I completed transferred over and I wasn't pulled so far back again. If you are a senior, you might be somewhat screwed there, but check out their online catalog, and best of luck to you! ----------
