What is "banner shaking?

If I laminate a banner, would I be able to use a dry erase board marker on it?

  • I am going to have a large banner printed (57" x 78") with a blank tournament bracket for 32 teams on it. I would like to be able to use a dry erase marker on it to write and erase names of teams. The reason I need a banner instead of a dry erase board is because the banner will be far easier to transport, especially considering its size. If I was to have the banner laminated, would the dry erase marker wipe off clean every time without leaving any markings? I will need the banner every weekend for tournaments and want it to look nice and clean at the start of each event. If the laminate stains, does any one know of another option I could use to receive similar results??

  • Answer:

Soft plastic absorbs the dry erase and makes it harder to clean, the softer the worst. You should be sure to erase it at the end of every tournament and not roll it up for cleaning just before the next. As stated, rubbing alcohol will help clean up residue. If you are concerned, you might get a small paper laminated with the same process and see what effects result. You should also be aware that different colors stain differently - red is tough in my opinion and blue is easier. And of course, if anyone uses a permanent marker on it, you have a rotten cleaning job as it sinks in quickly.
