  • I have a lot of different arts that I do I have photography, ceramics, some clothes designs, a few paintings, and a few other nic nac things. How do I put it all in a portfolio, for a high school Internship. I am to have it done this week so if any of you can save me out there it would be helpful.

These days digital might be the way to go, but alot of colleges like to have slides to look at. You'd need some tungston lights, to light your work, or something pretty bright. A good 35mm camera and some good slide film. Don't worry to much right now about what medium to pick. You'll have 4 years to worry about that in college. Just take good slides to represent your works. For sculptures, 2 to 3 angles is nice (far, near,left/right.) Paintings, usually one is good enough unless there's detail you want to show off. Ceramics need a backdrop, generally fabric or slightly colored paper. Photography gets treated just like paitings. Since you just have a week, it will be hard to put one together. But you can do it and it you can, you'd be heads above the others. Especially if you go to the length of cropping the slides with that thin little foil tape...best to do the cropping the the camera though. Good luck!

if you have a digitial camera, you can take images and save them to a cd...tungsten lights are ideal to use to spot light the work/ objects, if you can get access to these. there are many websites where you can upload your digital files to have slides made, if slides are a requirement for the portfolio.

Take photographs of all of your work and put them in plastic sleeves in a binder. This will be fine for now. If you go on to college or university, they will teach you how to prepare a portfolio as well.

I would suggest you segment your portfolio. Too much a variety shows that you are a jack of all trades, master of none. I strongly feel that you should focus on one main kind of works whichever best to get you your internship. The rest are support on how much your passion in art is. It actually reflects your highest interest and capabilities. In putting the portfolio together, treat this portfolio as a piece of artwork. If you are into digital design then create a portfolio with a digital archive of your works. If you are a typographer, you can have a nice cover using typography to represent your style. If you are into fashion design, play around with fabrics. Portfolio can come in any form as long as its easy to browse through and is not a disadvantage to you. Good luck.

stick to one field in particular, like put all photgraphs in the portfolio and at the end of it, take pictures of your other creations like ceramics, clothes designs, etc to show how versitile you and your work is.
