Whats it called when artist changes name?

  • When an author changes their name for their writing, it's called a pen name, when singer/actor changes name its a stage name. But what's it called when an artist changes their name? For instance Peter Max, he's last name isn't Max and Andy Warhol's real last name was Warhola. -Thanks for the help

It's called fraud! No, just kidding. You may be onto something here. Let's make up a new name for this and add it to the language. There is 'nom de plume' and 'pseudonym' but they don't quite cut it do they? How about 'brushtag'? Or 'nom de brush'?
