Impact on the visual arts, what should I look for?

• So I have to write a 2000 word essay and one of the topics it has asked me to address is the impact on visual arts (which I assume is from the artist). I'm not really sure what to write for it, the artists i have studied don't really seem to have 'impacted' the visual arts, at least not in any significant way I can see. Is there anything I'm missing or does it want me to address things, for example if they tried something I haven't seen before should i say 'This artists has done this, and contributed to the visual arts' etc.

  "Impact" on the visual arts means that something has 'impacted' (meaning had an effect). So it should either be "impact of ..... x ..... on the visual arts" (such as a war, discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb or Pompeii or whatever, or "impact OF the visual arts on ..... " If it was that, then you might consider the shock and horror of something like Picasso's art, particularly something like Guernica, which highlighted an atrocity of the Spanish Civil War.
