How can you make a light graffiti video?

Help with light graffiti?

  • ok so im only 15 and i dont have a job yet. so i bought a average camera (nikon s6200) that i could afford. the thing is i learned about light graffiti. it seems awesome but the maximum exposure on my camera is 4 seconds so i cant do much. i was wondering if there was a way to take video and merge the pics to make it look the same, or maybe break the video into pics and merge them together. heres an example i set my camera to video and record me moving a light around a room. then i put it on my computer and somehow merge it together in order frame by frame until its only one frame, making it a picture. i would love if this is possible i have had a bit of experience with gimp and paint.net but cannot affordd photoshop, so try to make instructions if possible as simple as possible

    Light graffiti is done in the camera - not in an image editor. You can get video frames into GIMP using GAP which is the advance animation plugin for GIMP. You can get GAP for Windows here: http://photocomix-resources.deviantart.com/art/GAP-2-6-for-Gimp-2-6-Windows-135464357 Merging them all together wouldn't be impossible, but it would be far more difficult than the usual method of making light graffiti - by taking a single long exposure. However one thing you should be aware of is that even a full HD video frame is only 2 Megapixels, so whatever image you are able to create from using video frames will be low resolution, and therefore not good enough for a decent sized print.

with a film camera you open up the lens wide on a timer in a dark room and move a small flash light in circles ,in a digital cameras, maybe you could find and old one and break the shutter ,or force it to stay open ,you need a long Exposure time,
