Why is art do expensive?

Do you think computer generated art/graphics is "true art" Why? What does art have to have to be "True art"?

  I create digital art and I believe that it is just like any other type of medium. The people that think that just because they have Photoshop they can create professional looking art are sadly mistaken. That would be like someone that has a paintbrush and some paint thinking that they can create something that people would want hanging in their homes. While they may create art, would anyone buy it. If they want to just do it for themselves more power to them, but you have to understand the medium before you can be considered an artist using it. That is why digital art is real art. There are those (and I like to think I am one) who understand the programs, but not only the programs they also understand the basic principles and elements of art that you have to know whether your a watercolorist or a sculptor or a digital artist. I used to teach art at the high school level and the most important thing next to creativity is understanding the rules. If people are upset because you can print as many copies of your digital art piece as you want then I ask them to look at printmaking as an artform, it has the same general principle, you can make multiple prints from a silk-screen or lithographic printing but yet those are still considered art. Photography is another great example, still art but can be massed produced. While I have nothing against traditional methods, I think it is great that a new medium has been introduced in the last few decades.
