What is a fair price to charge for distributing flyers?

How much should a freelance graphic designer charge?

  • I just got an email from a representative of an NBA player about designing some flyers for said player's basketball camp. He asked me for a quote but I didn't know what to say. I've been designing for 4 to 5 years but just as a hobby, I'm in college right now and have no intention of majoring (or even minoring) in design. I've never charged for my services before. I know it's best to charge by the hour but I'm not sure what price would be appropriate. Thanks.

    Usually as a freelance designer your rates will depend on how large the job is. I would suggest map out how long it will take you to do, and how many hours you intend to spend on the project. For example: If you feel you deserve $15/hr and the project will take you 10 hours you would quote $150 for yourself and then research any extra costs for printing etc.

These big league guys are pretty choosy so if you got an offer and you dont want it, pass it to me. they'll make you work for whatever it is they want you to do, so anywhere between $10 - $25 is fine depending on the level of detail... if it were me I d stick to my base rate of $16 per hour. (which I already do)
