Recognizing the tools of art (Elements of design, principles of design, etc.)?

• I'm doing a project for a class, but I am absolutely TERRIBLE when it comes to anything even relating to art. We're supposed to pick out 10 tools that were used in a painting of our choice. The painting I chose was 'Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette' by Vincent Van Gogh.
