How can you do a visual project on perception?

Anyone know Artists I should look at if I'm basing my project on perception and conspiracies?

  • So for my Final Major Project on Foundation I decided to focus my theme on Perception. But more specifically how the media influences our perception. I am finding it very difficult to find suitable artists work for inspiration so if anyone knows any artists or even anything interesting that is related I would appreciate the help!

  • Answer:

IANAVA (I am not a visual artist). Just wanted a disclaimer. I've taken some art history classes, and there's probably someone way way more qualified than me to answer this question, but in case no one else answers, here's mine. I don't think there's a better source for something dark like conspiracies than early Dadaist painters. What's coming to mind is Kurt Schwitter's Invisible Ink, 1947, stuff like that. Newspaper clippings are something anyone can identify with immediately, as well as the symbol they create when they're arranged on a corkboard. You see it an awful lot in film. That will also flow easily into more popular surrealist works like the Magritte's you always see on the internet. A good blend of the two styles without getting into postmodernism would be fun to look at; look at a Jackson Pollock piece for the direction I'd avoid if I were a talented painter going to school for it.
