How good is cold laminating for posters?

Is laminating posters a good idea?

  • Say a poster for a concert signed by a band. Like in the long run would it hurt or devalue a poster?

  • Answer:

I'm pretty sure it would hurt the value. If you want to preserve the poster's resale value and enjoy looking at it at the same time, have it framed-- properly, under glass and matted-- and avoid doing anything involving glue or tape to it. Sometimes people get posters mounted onto hardboard, which can be a great way of preserving and displaying them, but since most commercial inks (and papers) are not noted for their archival properties, the colours will fade with time. The only way to slow/prevent this is to keep it well out of sunlight. It's always a dilemma if you want to use something and also maintain its value. Good luck!

Lamination will not devalue the poster. Contrary, it will preserve it very well.
