What are some good music schools in Michigan?

Are there any design fields that combine illustration, animation and music ?

  • This is a long-winded one, so be prepared: I am currently a pre-press technician/desktop publisher for a printing press in Michigan. I just earned my two-year degree in Graphic Communications and am working on a bachelor's degree. As happy as I am with the idea of doing artwork for a living, I'm just not happy with what I'm doing right now. When I was a kid, all I ever really wanted to be was a cartoonist/illustrator for the sunday comics or for an animation studio. I'm also really into music. I have been playing guitar for 15 years and took some college music theory classes before. Those are my two biggest passions, yet I feel like they conflict with each other. My questions are as follows: 1. Is there a major out there that combines visual art such as illustration and 2D animation with music or sound in general? (I think this falls in line with a multimedia specialist, but I'm not sure) 2. If there is, does what I do right now as a graphic designer and pre-press specialist relate to it at all? 3. What are the best schools to study such a field (it doesn't matter where it is, I'm willing to move anywhere at this point). 4. Is the job market decent for this kind of thing? Any and all feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

  • Answer:

digital media? i'm thinking that may be it. considering you work with a little bit of everything. or maybe mulit-media production like with film and animation.
