How can I get my art noticed?

Where can I send my art work in order to get it noticed?

  • I've been drawing and painting for years, since I was really young, but I've never really looked into how to been 'seen'.

    It is a marketing process. Deviant Art is one site, with a lot of peers this is true, but it is not taken seriously by most fine artists exhibiting in well known galleries. Now to successfully show your work you must market with basic marketing strategies, more specifically you are asking about placement and promotion. You can easily make a site at www.weebly.com for free, or try wordpress or blogger for a free blog. Now when you make your site make sure you have something to offer, people do not want to hear about your cute cat or your dead Aunt Agnes. 2. Do you align yourself with other artists and organizations in your area? Go to gallery openings, and talk to the employees when they are not busy. If you have some cash, become a member, go to workshops and if you do not have too much money, volunteer once a week. 3. Do you have a professional portfolio. When you talk to these organizations, show them your work and listen. A good portfolio should explain your work so you don't have to. Getting your work to be seen just means that it is in all the right places. Another bit of advice is look at similar artists you admire and find their resume to see where they got their start. Create a regular account *and* a portfolio account (both free) at http://www.deviantart.com . Not only will your artwork be seen by tens of thousands of peers, there are many, many professionals over there, and the forums are a wealth of knowledge for how to get hired by someone.
