How to make paper look old?

  • i know how to make it look old but the paper i am using is printer paper because im printing the info and i wanted to know. do i print the info then make the paper look old or do i make the paper look old then print on it?

    I do this all the time for projects! It's Easy! First print out whatever you want to "age". Then get some teabags soaked in water, and just gently rub and squeeze the tea bag on the paper, while moving it across the paper. If you want it to dry fast, use a hair dryer. If you want to burn the side and edges, I light a candle or something and start to burn the edges, usually it's best to start at a corner, then blow it out, then start to burn the other parts, so you don't light the whole thing on fire. Make sure you have adult supervision while doing that!!! :)

I'm an interior designer and have actually done this many times. Print the info first, but best to use a laser printer or the print will "run" and smear when you make the paper look old. Make a cup of strong tea and use a small piece of towel to dip into it and blot onto the printed paper. You can crumple the paper to create fold lines which will soak up the tea more than the flat paper. Make sure you vary the intensity of the tea stains. If you want to create edges that look old, while the paper is still wet from the tea, tear portions around the edges of the page (the wet paper will sort of "feather" where torn. I've even see people take a candle and lightly singe the edges (be careful not to let it catch fire) while the paper is wet.

you make if look old first, that way it is still legible. after you make if look old with tea colored water and letting it dry over night then you write on it, and then you can burn the edges. always looks good.

cover the paper with wet a tea bag, scrunch it then let it dry.

my daughter had to do this for a school project once.print it first,then stain it with tea bags or coffee,burn the edges of the paper only slightly as to not ruin it. good luck.
