What is contemporary style ceramics?

Shoes for ceramics? i have no idea what to do!?

  • for ceramics we have to make a shoe, and it has to be inspired by an artist, or something of the sort. but i have no idea how to take an artists style and make it into a shoe. it doesnt necessarily have to be inspired by an artist, it can also be like an allusion to somthing. my ideas are usually bizzare and i like to test my limits with clay but this assignment has got me baffled! the 1st thing that popped into my head when the assignment was given was the old lady that lived in a shoe, but i kinda wanna use that as a last resort... so stuff like that, thx

How about the Holland wooden shoes, maybe the Alaskan snow shoes, or an Indian moccasins.Hope this is what you are looking for. Good luck.

Get out a book of art that includes Rembrandt and his ilk and look at the full length portraits he and his peers did. Like Night Watch http://www.ladbrokeradio.com/night-watch-rembrandt.jpg or the bride and groom posing. Look at the shoes. In NW, you would be trying to catch the shape of the leather and the color and the reference to the painter would be the color and toning.

an easy way would be to make a magritte shoe: http://www.idehist.uu.se/distans/ilmh/pm/magritte-shoes.jpg I've done that once for an assignment to make a model of a foot. I thought it was fun.
