What is the difference between ceramics handbuilding classes and ceramics throwing classes?

Throwing involves slamming a lump of clay down on a spinning wheel, digging your thumbs in the middle and working the clay up into relatively thin walls. Handbuilding involves taking clay in various forms - rolled sheets/slabs, rods, lumps, etc. - and adding them to a form that is basically still, although it may be mounted on a turntable for convenience in getting to all sides.
