How to make/get the materials for two part molds and sillicone rubber?

I'm looking to make small, translucent silicone rubber figures from a mold, but I don't know what materials to use. What do I use for the mold, and then what do I use to make the actual figure of the mold? I've been looking around online for a while but there are so many different materials and I'm just really confused. If you could help me with this or tell me where I can buy the materials, it would be GREATLY appreciated. THANK YOU!

It depends on the detail of the figure, the complexity of the figure and how many copies you want. If you are willing to try it out, the easiest silicone to get hold off is the 100% silicone caulking you can find in any hardware store or even in some dollar stores. If you squirt the silicone into water with a good amount of dishwashing liquid into it it will not stick to your fingers and you can mold it around your figure like clay - don't forget to apply a mold release on your figure though. Unless you want your final figure to be bendable it probably would be easier to use resin to cast your figure into, that also would be transparent and you could also tint it in different colors. I am not sure how well transparent silicone caulking would work, but you could give it a try. Otherwise you should phone a company like e.g. smooth-on, they have people answer questions like this and they will tell you what products are suitable for you.
