Can you use sculpey glaze with polymer clay?

What kind of glaze should I use for polymer clay?

  • I make polymer clay necklace charms and paint them with oil paints. What kind of glaze should I use? And another thing, is there a supplement that makes oil paint dry faster?

  • Answer:

Hi, actually acrylic paint is the paint to use on polymer clay. It dries super fast and comes in the same colours as oil paints. To get that glossy look you apply a product such as Future Floor Finish which is an 'acrylic' product. It also dries very fast. Please don't waste your oil paints on polymer clay, it is not necessary or recommended.

I like crystal clear myself, it works very well and coats most things evenly. I wouldn't see a problem with it glazing your beads. On the oil paint hardener, I am not sure on that, I don't use oil paints, but i am sure that you may be able to find a curring agent on dickblick.com.

For oil paint i would use Grumbacher cobalt drier or either Liquin both make the paint dry much faster. Liquin is also use to thin out the paint also. I would just use a clear varnish or even a matte varnish. It all depends on if you want it shiny or not.
