Is resin stronger than plastic?

What could I use to make little figurines of a waxy/plastic appearance to put in a resin pendant?

  • For year 11 design I'm making a jewellery suite that includes a pendant, I came up with a concept yesterday of using resin and putting 3D figures based on a cartoon of a friend and I in the pendant, I thought I could use modelling clay but somehow I think a really bad reaction would happen, can anyone suggest media/materials I could use to make little figurines of a waxy/plastic appearance without the resin reacting horribly with it ?

  • Answer:

Not having gotten a useful answer in this many hours, I think you are going to have to do some small tests just making circles or something in lines and putting resin on them. Polymer clay that bakes to PVC should work (in my limited experience) The plastic that is sold in tubes for embossing fabric might also work. Modeling clay (plasticine oil moistened earth clay that never hardens) is almost certainly not going to work.
