Answer:
Magdalen by Donatello Perseus by Cellini David by Verrocchio Unless you want only pieta art? A "pieta" is a depiction of Mary holding the body of Jesus after his death. There were many pieta's done during the early renaissance, and the high renaissance as well. It was a popular theme...if you do want only pietas to compare to Michaelangelo's, then try these... Giovanni Della Robbia (not a sculpture, a glazed terra cotta) Baccio Bandinelli Gregorio Fernandez (Spanish sculptor, 1600's, for an interesting comparison across country/cultural lines)

I think you should stick to an image of Madonna/Virgin and child. A good work to compare Mich.'s Pieta (1499) with would be Luca della ROBBIA's Madonna of Roses 1450-55 Glazed terracotta, Museo Nazionale del Bargello, Florence http://www.wga.hu/frames-e.html?/html/r/robbia/luca/ma_roses.html Altho the works were produced at almost exactly the same time and express many of characteristics of Renaissance art - e.g. naturalistic depictions, ideal of beauty - there are many differences. Aside from different materials, consider the mood of the composition (Pieta - grave and sad- Madonna of Roses - charm and sweetness) the main difference is that Jesus is seen in the one at end of his life, the other - as a baby at the beginning. The gaze of the Madonna is also important. In one instance, she looks at her son, in other (della Robbia) she looks away perhaps contemplating his future. Also one can compare the two settings: in "Madonna of the Roses", She is seated on a bench with the child on her knees (Pieta almost same pose) But here, we see a child holding an apple and with the other He is gathering roses.
