Is cheap clay okay to use?

Would it be okay if i made a clay pipe to use for smoking, or would it be hazardous ?

    Absolutely it would be ok. Clay pipes were used all the time in Colonial times to smoke tobacco. Many of the colonial presidents used them The only caution is the bowl can get very hot when you burn anything in them. Don't use any glazes that contain lead. Keep Arting! you already know that there are plenty of chemicals which are bad for you (carcinogenic) in whatever you smoke.... but if the clay is properly fired it shouldn't add additional chemicals to it.
