Is loose material inside bronze statue common?

Bronze horse statue?? want to know how much is worth and stuff?

  • hi i have 2 bronze horse statues: one is about four- five inces tall and hollow, it has no markings on it, like stamps or companys, and it has a chain that goes through a hole it it's mouth for reigns. it's not extremly detailed, just basic and it's not a shiny bright bronze, it's kinda goldybrown. and has a Western saddle on it that is part of it. the other statue is about three inches tall and three inches long, same looking as the bigger one, but SOLID. it weighs like a few pounds. i don't know anything about metals and selling them, and i haven't been to an apraiser or traveling cash for gold thingy, but i really want to know, so if anyone has ANY info, it would be greatly apperciated! thanks!

  • Answer:

A jeweler is not going to be interested in bronze and the small size of these is not going to interest a buyer of copper and bronze very much even though copper is at or near its high price. Unless you can find some image like it on Google Images or talk to someone who does toys or can come up with evidence that it is old (like your grandfather had them) it is unlikely they have much value. You might try Craigslist and see if anybody shows an interest after getting the exact weight (like at the post office) and looking up the likely scrap value.
