Is resin stronger than plastic?

Clear plastic resin with paper mache/plaster mold?

• i wanted to make a clear mold of a scuplture i did which is a square with a pair of eyes just surfacing at the top of the box. i was going to make a 'mold' over the sculpture with either paper mache or plaster and then fill that mold with a clear plastic resin so i could continue that project..so, i was wondering if anyone had any information if this would work or if plaster over paper mache may work best..? thanks!

  when mold making you have to think of 1) the original model material, 2) what the mold material will be and 3)the final (poured) material. The questions are in resolving compatability with each material... paper is porous to air like wood or plaster, any plastic poured into it will adhere to it, unless it is sealed and released with proper release material. Result: you'll never get your mold off the model, or the poured material may never set, if inhibited by the presence of water or other agents (The devil and the deep blue sea) you may have luck if you have no access to rubber molding material with a duct tape mold if surfaces don't have to be perfectly smooth, since duct tape is plastic, (ie non porous) and with a proper release agent the liquid plastic may just not stick. make sure the sticky side is out, ( or cover the model in saran wrap first!)
