The type of pottery in the mid-1920's and onwards was the Art Deco period, which emphasized strong geometric (angles and curves) lines and shapes, preferably in strong color contrasts such as black/white or black/silver, or bright colors on white (red/white, orange/white). Clarice Cliff was a well known ceramics designer: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clarice_Cliff Susie Cooper was also well known: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susie_Cooper Here's an artist I found just by Googling: http://www.art-deco-ceramics.com/art-deco-dishes.htm I'm fairly certain your second link is Native American Indian pottery from the southwest, probably from the pueblo (town) of Santa Clara and appears fairly modern.
