Why thread is not working as concurrent when using pthread_detach(?

How to harden string or thread?

  • so i am working on this intricate art piece for my AP art class. I Have to make a self protrait, and i am using real thread that will be woven into the canvas that i will be painting on. The thread is going to be falling off the canvas and i want the make curls and swirls with the thread. But i dont know how i can keep the thread in a specific shape. What can i use to harden the string/thread so i can create interesting shapes out of it that will stay in place? thankssss =)

  • Answer:

Spray on hair spray, or polyurethane varnish. Wax might also work, but I can't see how to apply it for your need. Start by trying the hard-setting hair spray. (Don't spray it on the canvas, without trying a sample first. Something might melt.)

Other answers

PVA white or yellow wood glue (Elmers, Titebond) Do some experiments for color, dilution, drying time, etc. Since it takes a while to dry, you will have to wind it on cylinders of wax paper, etc. As it stiffens, you should be able to do final shaping.
