  Faces, shields, leaves, small statues are often found on gothic buildings. Try search on words like: gothic architecture, gargoyle and so on. You can use flickr.com if you need any pictures.. Sagrada familia isn't that old, but might be worth a look. Greek architecture is often filled with sculptures. Assyrian/Babylonian architecture might also be worth a look.
