Can you use papier mache as a mold for plaster of paris?
-
i was wondering if there's any way of making a mold of an object by papier maching it (i already know how to do this), and then filling it with plaster of paris to create basically a duplicate of the object. i don't see why it wouldn't work, however i need a way to stop the plaster of paris soaking through the papier mache. i don't think cling film would work as there is fairly intricate detail on the object i am making. any suggestions?

Answer:
it would work better if you paint a layer rubber on your sculpture, then the papier mache, it will give you better detail & release easier
