How to clean a silicone case?

How to make a plastic/silicone case?

  • Im not very good at explain this, so I wouldn't be surprised if anybody didn't know what im going on about. Lets say I wanted to put a shell into a plastic/silicone casing (which would be solid) I know you have to mix a few solutions together to make a paste, pour it over shell (which would be inside a mold) and a few hours/days later it would turn solid and clear. What would I need to make this? Thank you for your time :)

  • Answer:

You want casting resin, which is a two part plastic that is clear from the start and has to be stirred carefully to mix and not get bubbles in it. This stuff http://www.dickblick.com/products/castincraft-clear-polyester-casting-resin/ which is available from many sources. You have to be careful so you get good outer surfaces. Also, with objects, it is normal to pour a layer of resin and push the object into the resin as it sets, then put another layer on to cover. Otherwise the objects tend to float or sink or tilt in the resin and you don't want props showing in the finished casting.
