How does super glue work?

How do I re-attach 2 wings onto a ceramic angel statue? Super glue, Elmer's glue, gorilla glue all don't work.

  • Answer:

If you've already tried the mentioned glue(s), youve already probably built up a layer of dried glue on the surfaces you want to bond. If you try to glue them again, more than likely the seam will be evident... if it would even will hold. Take a small x-acto knife or something sharp and scrape the residue down to the ceramic surface. Mastics dont usually have the desired strenght and fail in a relatively short time. Use a clear, fast setting epoxy. This should do it...good luck.

Have you ever tried regular model glue?

Fearless

Believe it or not what you need is found at the hardware store, called Mastic or Ceramic Cement. You use a small thin amount on the fallen off piece and a small thin amount on the main piece and draw lines in the "cement" with a toothpick, one direction on the broken piece, the opposite direction on the body. Hold the two pieces together for FIVE minutes before moving on to the other side.
