  There are several ways you can work with glass. There are some Hot Shops that will charge their glass furnace with a mix that makes glass. Some hot Shops will charge with cullet - small pieces of glass The tools are expensive so I feel the safest and most economical way is to sign up for a class. When I took the class in the hot shop I had to sign a waver that I wouldn't sue if injured In my area there are classes at the local museum and classes at some artist studios. Look for Glass Blowing -- Hot Shop Glass Blowing -- Torch work Glass Fusing - Cutting glass and fusing it in a glass kiln Stained Glass - Cutting colored glass and soldering lead channel Glass Etching - engraving on glass Glass Casting - Sand Cast Or Warm glass I took 2 series of classes in a hot shop. I am looking for a class in warm glass casting
