Clay Animation Ideas?

What kind of clay do i buy to make clay animation?

  • What kind of clay do i buy to make clay animation also do i buy metal wires to make them stand and move properly? can some one please help me

  • Answer:

any oil based clay, e.g. plasticine, as you don't want your figures to dry out and be unchangable. Depending how large your figures and how thin some structures might be wire would be useful. And of course the wires could also be forming an visible part of your figure (e.g. hair/bristles). Though toothpicks could work as well.

Plasticine, modeling clay http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plasticine Armature wire may be required depending on the size and nature of the characters. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_Motion

Get the standard Plasticine clay schools use and for the figures use bendable wire and make up armatures to put the clay on this will allow you to move the arms etc in slow motion capture there is a fixative you can add to the clay to stiffen it a bit so when you move it it doesn't leave finger Marks etc can't remember what it was you have to make the skeletal forms up in the shape of the figure and so they can move for the bigger ones i used heavy electrical wire with the cloth like cover these are stiff and will bend and support the weight of the figure
