How to use marble in art?

Statues of course. There are many little carved marble statuettes found in novelty shops. Find something like an animal or a bird that would be popular for a seasonal sale for gifts like a marble reindeer. Rudolph with the red nose maybe would sell well. Or an angel which you could market all year long giving significant forms to them in name for their instruments like the Angel Michael archangel, (sword) or Gabriel (horn) etc., make them small enough so to draw attention to a shelf or a glass cabinet. Birds would be nice too, like a robin in a nest upon the blue eggs she lays. Or even separately the blue speckled eggs in marble in a basket and perch the Bird at the edge looking in on them. Oh if you live on Crete than because Hercules is popular make one of him and then maybe one of the Great Alexander since he became popular again since the recent film, or try a mountain and name it olympia, and have a waterfall coming out of it. That would be unique. For so many we see here that are imported from the Orient but they are not made well nor are they made of marble with something as significant as the Mount Olympus. Ulysses with his bow? Or Diana with her bow.

man, I had a really nice marble table from the early 70's and it was PiMp. You can have companies measure the circumferance of the marble, cut it, and lay it ontop of a nice peice of swedish made steel, all chrome lookin..It would be 1 of a kind and look great too

since you are a beginner and you have access to chips of all types of marble think about mosiac for starters it takes a small amount of material in small pieces and it will teach ou a bit about how that material handles working with it in that manner will also give you other ideas of how to use it. check out the web for marble and then hits the sites that talk about its uses also talk to the guys that you work with and see is any of them are doing anything that you have an interest in working at also or at least seeing what it can do as an art material there are even glues that will stick marble together to just have fun make sculpture with ut too much cutting or shaping good luck and have fun
