Hiya, I agree polymer is really great I make stuff i love with it all the time! So far I've used super sculpey which is quite soft and flesh coloured, tho if left for more than a day unhardened it will firm up but the heat from your hands softens it again, it won't ever completley harden in air it's pretty good stuff, it's oven bake clay and how long you put it in for depends how thick and what size the sculpt is. E.g a body part of a miniature animal such as a leg, you're looking at no more than 7 minutes, something very large or a few inches high start with 10. a low heat is best and just keep checking, all you can do really is experiment. It's not meant to change colour when baked but I like to keep it in til it browns and discolours (before turning black/burnt) just a little because it's much stronger and less likely to break I buy it on ebay for about £12 a lb box, if you wanna make something like manga that's a good choice, or you can also try otherclays like fimo, premo (which I think is coloured) and sculpey or sculpey III but if you have can afford it super sculpey is a nice starter for polymer clay, makes great christmas pressies! I made my grandma's little yorkshire terrier:D Hope I was some help, good luck!
