Where can I get a bust statue made of myself?

Identify Mystery Bronze Bust Statue?

  • So, my great-aunt has this bronze replica of a bust. I've noticed it for years now and just am curious on whose work it might be based on. It's pretty heavy (it's metal, not painted plaster) and is attached to a column pedestal. The figure is a girl with her hair braided and pulled up in the back. Unfortunately, the only writing on the back did not transfer very well when they made the copy so I don't know what it says. This was purchased back in the 60s or 70s, I believe, when the interior decorating got a bit ornate (mirrors with heavy gold frames, etc.) Still, I like the little statue and just figured someone on the internet would know the original statue. One interesting thing to me is the way they made the eyes the irises are swirls. Here is the link for two pictures: http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7143/6573698995_8b27bb2b30_b.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7174/6573699647_eb452dc2c3_b.jpg (Unfortunately, I forgot to get a picture of her hair from the back).

  • Answer:

Sorry, I had a short look and it doesn't seem to help, but I think the writing says Dupres altelier, or Dupre's atelier. Since Dupre is a rather common French name it might not help much. Looks somewhat art noveau. At least I am pretty sure it's of French origin. At least there is a pretty clear accent aigu over the e.
