Is it possible to make life-size mannequins using paper mache?

How do I make a model of a mountain using paper mache?

  • I am 9 years old and have a project about mountain/mountain ranges to do in 3 weeks. I would like to make a 3D mountain perhaps from paper mache. I will have to paint/decorate it once it has dried as I have to add details about its form/climate/habitat etc. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you

I've never tried this but I bet you could do something as cheap and simple as shape and crinkle up some kraft paper (what grocery bags are made of) and paper mache over that. It seems like the random wrinkles jutting out here and there would imitate a craggy surface well.

You can either get a piece of styrofoam, shape it and cover it with paper machee, or make a mountain out of tin foil and cover it. To make it look really great, paint it with acrylic paint and glue on some fake grass/shrubbery which you can find in the model train section at hobby lobby, or at any hobby shop that sells model cars, airplanes, trains :) good luck!
