How do you license an art design or pattern?

For art and design i have to do do a mixed media piece on pattern? any ideas?

    Not sure if this is the sort of thing you are looking for, but why not do something on the Scots clans tartans? Even though the pattern is similar, each tartan is different [and] how did they come to use the different colours in each tartan. Hope this helps.

What does "pattern" mean to you? Look the word up. Develop a relationship with it. Check your environment for patterns. Look at your behaviors, or other people's behaviors for patterns. There are patterns in nature. Patterns in chaos theory. Don't over think it. Take a break. Look around. Then think about the materials you enjoy working with and start there. Allow the process to determine the pattern. It will develop. We are creatures of habit, pattern. You have the answers. Just stop and listen and observe.

Go outside into bright light, glance around at a few different views, (not the sun obviously) then quickly duck inside and close your eyes. Try to commit the after image to memory and recreate it in whatever medium suits best... Just a scatty idea, be careful not to fall and hurt yourself ;)
