How do I lower poly count of a model in blender but keep the texture?
-
I'm modeling a hat for Team Fortress 2. In order to implement it into the game, you need to have 2 models, a High resolution model and a High resolution Models. I tried using the Blender Decimate modifier, which worked. However the original texture didn't fit the model properly and the end result looked horrid. I was wondering if there is a way to lower the poly count of a model in blender while keeping the original texture.

Answer:
make a copy of your original model and try to decimate poly count by "Decimate modifier", now unwrap your new model and bake textures from original model to your newly created one (find on internet how to bake diffuse (color) maps, AO and normal maps
