What fake broken glass is the most realistic?

What kind of art can I do with broken glass bottles?

  • Their is this guy wanting to sell 900lbs of broken glass bottles for 20$. I want to make extra money. What kind of projects/art can I make to sell? And Would it be worth it?

  • Answer:

If you have a kiln and a few molds you could do some slumped glass pieces. Don't do it if you've never worked with glass, though. Molten glass has to go through an annealing process which means bringing it down in temparture slowly. Do it too fast and it'll shatter of form cracks.

No, forget it. It wouldn't be worth it. Much too much trouble, plus, if you were a good enough artist to make any good money with that glass, you'd know it and wouldn't need to ask. Try to find a better use for the $20.

mosaics, great co louring in this type of art

You could do a type of mosaic covering such as pot plant holders or teapot stands or if the worst comes to the worst recycle most glass manufactures use used glass in their process.

Have you ever considered flameworking? Check out Corning Glass Museum. I know they have a website and it should be easy to find but the special torch that's used will melt glass and then you can stick pieced of glass together like glue except the pieces will actually be welded together. Have fun!

art is creative. you have to decide that for yourself. basically, however, you can do anything with them and call it symbolic art. crush them up into a thousand piece call it the fate of the world.

You don't necessarily need to do 'hot' glass work, where you are melting or blowing the glass. You could put the pieces together into sculpture using a special UV glue, it's meant specifically for glass, and it cures under UV light. If cured properly, it is as strong as the glass itself. Please be careful, though, I've worked with glass and I got some wicked cuts. Gloves are helpful. However, after saying all this, if you're in this just to make money, and not really to make art, then I would go with mosaics.

some folkes use them as rough glass for leaded panes or mozaics or if you know someone with a kiln maybe they will give glass blowing lessons for the exchange and you keep the projects you make
