How do you make Modeling clay at home?(not playdoh)?

  • i would like to know how to make modeling clay that can be put into the oven. not air drying clay because it doesnt work as well. also, are you able to put das clay into the oven?

    Das clay is a non-drying modeling clay made from linseed oil. Not only will it melt in the oven, it could catch fire !! So please do NOT put it in the oven! Here are some recipes for different home made clays: http://www.canteach.ca/elementary/artrecipes4.html Clay that is hardened in a kiln can't be used in an oven because the temperatures aren't high enough (you would need over a thousand degrees). The commercial oven-bake clay like sculpey and fimo are chemical-based and can't be made at home.

Yes you can put das clay in the oven watch carefully as it can burn. You can make different types of modeling clay, out of sodium bicarbonate, if you look up the internet, it makes lovely fine jewely that can look good painted with nailpolish

Go to a river and dig up the clay. It isn't as refined as clay you buy but for basic modeling it will do just fine.
