When you have the film developed, have a high quality CD made of the images

Holgas, as well as most older cameras, use this stuff called "Film" It comes in a little round roll, and only holds between 12 and 36 pictures. After you have filled up the "roll" of "film", you have to wind it back up and take it to a special store that can make the pictures appear. (Like Wal-mart or Wallgreens) This is called "Developing film" usually, you have to put the roll in an envelope, and check some boxes written on the envelope. If there is a box called "Photos on CD" or something like that, check it. After a couple of hours in the special developing store, your pictures will be on pieces of paper, and in little clear plastic strips. Those plastic strips are what happens to the film after it gets developed. The CD can be put in your computer, and the pictures can be taken from them and copied.

Most 1-hour labs offer the option of getting your images scanned to CD when you get your film processed. I find it is more economical to get my film processed and a CD only, no prints. If I want a print, then I will take the CD in and get prints made. This way, you are paying for only the images you want, not the whole roll. Most places that develop photos offer high quality CDs with all of your photos on them. It's a small price to pay, but very much worth it because if your prints fade, get lost, or become destroyed, you can reprint them by bringing in your CD instead of having to save your negatives, which can fade over time. You can also have large prints made and framed.

Scan them. Next time when you get the film processed get a CD-ROM made at the same time, only costs a dollar or two, then you have the photos digitised.
