Should I dress professionally or casually for my passport photo?

Can I get a passport photo professionally done some advice please?

  • when I go to photo booths my photo does not come out to well as the likeness is not quite like me, I was wondering is it possible to have a photo done professionally? come you make some suggestions where I could get this done?

    places like Mjax Spielman, or certain post offices can take photos for you. They work within the guidelines of passport pictures.

You can pay someone to produce a wonderful photo to fit in the format, but you will lay out a bunch of money and it will still have to be a straight on look, not the 3/4 or 7/8's view commonly used for portrait views. And nobody cares if is "not quite like" you - the problems with ID pictures are legendary. Only if it is so much different they will say "This is not your passport" which I doubt.

Of course, that's how most have it done. Duh! Any High St photographer will do it. How else do you think it's done, with your phone? Get real.

In the UK you should be able to find this service at Max Speilmann stores.

Sorry, the photo booth ones are the only acceptable ones for passports (size/proportions) but those machines rarely catch anybody in a good light regardless.

I think legally the pictures need to be taken in those booths. Just another way for the tax man to make a few billion a year.
