What exactly do you do for a photography major in college?

What better taking a photography class in high school or in college?

• I want to take a photography class but my high school photography is really hard to get in because every one else want to take photography so I went to miami dade college and they have photography class for teens and they have adult classes. I was wondering if i would have better teacher at Miami dade college than at a public high school and I was also wondering if I should take a teen class or an adult class.

  Don't pay for photography school. Spend your money on equipment instead. No one cares if you have a degree, they care if you can GET THE SHOT. Every practicing photographer I have ever met or read about was self-taught. Who knows what experience the teachers in schools have? Have they ever had to satisfy a fat bridezilla, or did they go straight into teaching from college themselves? While the others are sitting in class watching powerpoints of how to use a camera you be out in the field shooting, preferably for a paying customer. That way you'll REALLY learn how to deliver photographs!
